Today I put on my tow strap in place of the winch line. Put on the plow their calling for 3-6" of the white stuff tomorrow! I see these threads on other forums and they tend to be really popular

What do you mean, you put you tow strap in place of your winch line. How did you do this and what is the reason? To keep your winch cable from getting kinked up?

Cables tend to snap while plowing after a bit. So I pull out the cable and feed in a 2500lb tow strap I just buy a cheap one at home Depot. Cut it in half and feed it into the winch. Works fantastic. It's a real pain when that cable snaps on u and your a mile from home. 2 years ago I had to reverse dam near a mile to my house when my cable broke.couldn't lift the plow.

How long a tow strap did you use? Do you pull all the cable out and take it off? I use my pioneer to haul out wood and sometimes I get hung up or in a hole and have to use my winch to get out, Maybe replacing my cable with synthetic rope would be the way to go. It would be more forgiving when I have the plow on. Sorry for all the questions but on my old foreman I went thru a couple of cables because of kinking and hooks breaking off.

No problem. I believe it was a 20' strap. For plowing you only need it 6'. I did take all the cable out but I bet you could get 20' in there. In the spring I'll be putting on synthetic. I had a 2013 can am 800 last year and there was room for the strap with the cable on that one. But synthetic will break when plowing also but with that you can just tie a new piece to the hook. Tow strap is much stronger and doesn't fray.

We went for a 40 mile ride down the back roads etc; we have about 4 " of snow on the ground but ,It was freezing rain out so it was a PIA. The freezing rain made for slick driving also had to keep stopping to clear the ice off the wiper blade. Also found more air leakage places which sure sucks the heat out of the cab. If your going slow its warm in the cab but going fast 30 mph and above it sure cools off in the cab.

The ice problem happened to me last week, so I installed a washer and filled it with de-icer.
$12 for a universal kit on Amazon. Worked great last week when it was in 20F, today it's 70 so wait a few days and I'll need it again.

Edit: Apologies, it went up 20% it's now $15

First real plowing experience with the pioneer tonight 7" of wet slop the machine did outstanding only put in 4wd doing some sidewalks, was staring to push me a bit. The torque and ease of plowing suprised me. On the way home I took a back road, and noticed a car stuck on a frozen drift. Turned to investigate and someone was laying next to the car. Old man was trying to dig it out and ran out of steam. Had hip and knee implants couldn't get up his wife was frantic been there 30 min and no phone. Picked him up got him in car. Old lady climbed in she put it in N. Hooked strap up and drug car about 30' plowed them out. They said they were praying for help. Makes you wonder sometimes as there was no reason for me to even be down that road it's a dead end with 2 houses.

Just leave the majority of the lights up like I did. Then your decorating can involve running an extension cord like me.. gives you more drinking time!

Went for a nice ride today 140 klms in the snow down some trails.Stopped and had a weiner roast in the warm up shack all in all a very nice day of riding. It was a warm day sitting right around freezing,so we had to take advantage of the warm weather and went riding. We even turned the heater off at times. What a fantastic day for a winter's ride.
