Now that the Pioneer is home I,am going to start the mods.First winch install then I'll start on making the cab and installing the heater. Here's a picture of the Homemade cab on the Ranger that I made and the Pioneer is going to get the same thing. Not sure when it'll get completed but now that its cold I should beable to pick away at it.The windshield is safety glass but it also opens and tips out at the bottom. One thing about having the windshield open it lets air flow through for the summer keeping the cab virtually dust free. The doors can be installed and removed just by lifting them off or on.I use automotive weather stripping around the doors and front windshield so that when there closed its sealed up just like what your car or truck is.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Started working on the cab,and have come up with this so far for my opening glass windshield. This is the bottom part of the frame,I want it to seal up really nice to the dash plus give me maximum visability when opened. This part is the fixed part of the frame it stays on the ROPS.but can also be removed if needs to be .The window frame itself will look very similar to this part.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Got the window frame done here's pics of it from the side in the opened position ,from the front in the open position and from the front in the closed position. I still have to install the open and lock closed latches.I still need to drill the hole for the windshield wiper motor, once that's done I'll get the glass cut and paint the frame.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

I wished I had the capabilities to do stuff like this. I'd make all kinds of stuff.
Great job so far, looking good.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

What gauge sheet metal are you using? Will you make the whole cab out of this? Wonder what the weight is when it's done? I'm really liking all these things being made out of metal on here because that's about all I can make things out of.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

The window frame is 1/8" steel and the doors will be 1"x1" 100 wall sq. tubing. The fillers and stiffeners are all 1/8" flat anywhere from 1/2" to 1" wide. The rest is a swatter canvas with the fiberglass reinforcing rods build right into the canvas. Painted the frames this week and had the glass cut,[Safety Glass] also picked up a windshield wiper motor.I'am hoping to have the windshield completed tommoro so will post pics of it when it's finished.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

One more question. I'm sure we live in different parts of the country, southern Ohio for me, and this may change costs but would you mind sharing a rough guess of what you'd have in the finished cab? I also have the 4 seater so that would obviously add to it as well. It would take me quite some time to finish a project of that size so was wondering if it would be worth the extra cost to buy factory made stuff.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Installed the windshield today its finally finished, only thing was I didn't wire the windshield wiper motor. It was a nice day out so I wanted to go out for a ride.It sure was nice to be sitting behind the windshield and not feel the cold wind.Only thing was it sure created a whirlwind of snow in the cab at times. Now Its time to start on the roof and rear panel. Pics are of the windshield in the closed, open and inside.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Slow, what a wonderful job you did. I like how it opens from the bottom. Allows air flow and still keeps you guarded from the elements if needed. You have some wonderful skills. I can see you were passionate about making this item yourself.
It just amazes me what a fabricator can do with some spare time.
Thank you for sharing.
