Anyone else find there axles rusting more then expected?
I do not recall my axles on my Rincon rusting at all.
Guess I will be looking to paint them sometime!

I never could figure out why manufacturers choose to not paint some things. I guess this is one area Honda could save money which in turn makes the machine more affordable. I still can't believe I bought a NEW Honda sxs for $10K.

Maybe you have heard of this but I always like to spray my undercarriage with wd-40 or similar after I wash it. Just avoid the brakes. I think it helps slow corrosion. It drives me nuts to see corroded aluminum and steel on a newer machine. It also helps the dirt release next time you wash.

I put some enrust on mine. It is a white water based chemical use to treat rusty metal for painting. It turns black once dried . If you put two coats it lasts a good while with out painting it. It comes in several other names as well depending on the manufacturer.

I used some Automotive paint I had from last restoration and just brushed it on. Looks much better and only took 15-20 mins.

I m going to use a special rust paint product from RUSTBULLET.com. I have used this before restoring a very rusty portable back-hoe. It's expensive however it really covers rust and protects against the elements. If you use this product wear gloves, the paint does not come off with any thing except sandpaper once it dries.

Mine look about like that. I'm hoping to upgrade to aftermarket axles soon and if they aren't painted already they will be before they get installed

@Hondasxs , did you also notice the 18 axleshafts don't have the inner o-ring like the 16 shafts at the end of the splines of the CV?

I've got the better part of a 5 gallon bucket of fluid film in the garage, been reluctant to spray on the Honda. I've been using it on my trucks for a few years with good results (can only do so much with used trucks in salt belt) and have wondered how it holds up to mud/dirt etc.

In Canada, a 5 gallon bucket of Fluid Film is worth $500!!!
