I finally got sick either dragging my dewalt jobsite radio out or just going without tunes for long enough. After gathering some goodies, a little shopping sprea on amazon, and tugging on @ohanacreek s ear for a bit I set out to make me some permanent tunes.

After shopping the internet for something affordable (to thats a tough one) and not finding anything I liked, it was time to build. Not wanting anything on my dash because my dogs like to put their front feet up there as we ride, and remembering seeing @ohanacreek set up in his old 700 thats what I wanted. My basic shape cut from 1/4" underlayment

Then I ripped some 1/2 plywood in 1 1/2" strips and gave it some rigidity.

rounded the corners with a chunk of 2x4 and started laying out for the radio mount, I'll be using an Infinity PRV250 for the radio

Then Layed out the speaker mounts, beefed up the radio mount and rounded off the top edge of everything

and a quick test fit

I picked up two (but only needed one) of these at walmart,

and stretched it over the whole thing and stapled it to the sides

now the fun part, coating it all with fiberglass resin, I did get any pictures of the process, just the after affects

I was really suprised how strong the fleece blanket and resin had become. I've got more to come, need to upload more photo's.

after the resin dried, I buzzed it real fast with a palm sander to knock off and sharp bits and shot it with some spray on bed liner

then wire everything up and istall

I am by no means a wood worker, lots of wood glue and brads do wonders and luckily the fleece covers all of it. This is a pretty simple project for any one wanting to do it. Between youtube and @ohanacreek (thanks again ohanancreek) even I pulled it off. Questions? comments let me know.

That's a really great job. Nothing better than having a custom setup that no one else has.

Cool!

Thanks guys, I got to take it out today (by myself, which is rare) and actually enjoy the fruits of my labor. Next to power steering, this would be my favorite modification.

Nice, I am going to build something like this over the winter, maybe two speakers and a center sub. I need ceiling mounted because of the nipples deep water crossings. :)

You forgot to mention one thing. How much are you charging to make duplicates?? :D I really like that and would like to have one down the center of the rear for the passengers along with some lighting options.

@SundayRdr the problem wouldn't be with the cost of making them, the problem would be the cost of shipping. Thats why I tried to take photos to show everyone else roughly what I did. I may do an interior light at some point, the center portion is hollow,so I can fish a wire in there and I ran an extra wire down when I ran my power wires for something.
