Okay just an update on front springs. 250LB are WAY too heavy. 200 would most likely be too heavy for these shocks as well. 250 doesn't compress at all with the weight of the atv on them and shocks are at full extension at rest. And that's with a heavy bumper and 4500lb winch. I will be testing stock Commander springs for a while and see if I can get them to bottom at all. If so I'll move up to 175LB and go from there. The math was there to support the heavier springs. I'm not sure how stock Honda and Fox spring rates are so heavy and can even compress at all.

I ran the stock springs from the commander on the front yesterday. It was very hard to get it to bottom. I had to slam into a water bar much faster than I felt comfortable with. I had the preload set to the lightest and was by myself, in total only about 200 pounds of weight in the machine. This leaves a lot of room for adjustment to make them stiffer with preload adjustments when adding passengers. So my conclusion is that stock springs or 150-175 pound springs would be okay depending on how much you weigh or if you always carry passengers. But stock worked great and provided a smooth ride with awesome articulation. I rode harder yesterday than ever before. I ended up with scratched rims, a bent brush guard, lost hub caps, broken grill and maybe a bent frame cross member. I haven't washed it off and taken a look but my UHMW skid plate is pushed upward right by a screw, must've come down on something hard.

The shock is great news, however about impossible to find a set...bad news the other way around on your damage.

You have to expect losses when you are wheeling. It's a given that it will happen. The shocks can be purchased right on eBay if you check often. I now have 2 sets of fronts and 1 rear. The rear is less straight forward and I am still working on the correct recipe for those.

I'll know what I have for extra parts once I get done figuring everything out and get the rears mounted.

Early measurements look like 3.5" of rear lift.

Limiting straps may be needed as the shock body contacts a spot on the a-arm at full droop.

This is the commander rear shock. All I did was swap out the bushings with some I found online that had proper measurements.

Have you checked to see if the CV binds? I had to limit the front of my 700 to keep the CV from binding.

Before going forward with the installation of the shocks, I compared them to the strongmade lift and found the height gained by the strongmade to be nearly identical to that of the commander shocks. I had no binding with the strongmade lift and expect none with the commander shocks.

What did you install on yours that caused binding and how did you remedy it?

I installed rzr 900s Fox shocks only on the front. I had to raise the upper mount to limit the travel.

I will say they were MUCH better than stock. I'll find some pics.

I've seen several photos of this done during my search. I was looking for a bolt on option for front and rear that would give lift, travel, lack of bottoming and better ride. The rear is still a work in progress and has not been through my own final evaluation while the front is complete and tested.
