April 2, 2016: Honda has announced a “STOP SALE” on certain model year 2016 Pioneer 1000 side by sides. It is to repair a potentially defective front door striker on select, affected vehicles. If the front door striker breaks, the door could open unexpectedly.

Effective immediately, Honda dealers can not sell any new or used 2016 Pioneer 1000 (SXS1000) models within a select VIN range (see chart below). Contact your local dealer to find out if your VIN falls in the selected range if you’re planning on purchasing a new Pioneer 1000 and haven’t taken delivery of it yet. Once Honda updates their database, you will be able to enter your VIN# here and find out if your model falls into the affected range. The service bulletin including repair procedure, parts information, as well as warranty claim information, is forthcoming.

Yep. Went to take delivery on mine today. Nope. Would have been nice to get a phone call from the dealer. The upside? I get a free accessory when I do pick it up.

I would say be sure and pick out something expensive, but heck they are ALL expensive lol

Put that vin on website and says not affected. However, it looks like it falls within range. Help!!

more worried about the tranny no problems yet

I picked mine up Saturday at the dealer. Mine was the only one on the lot that had cleared the recall notice. All of the other ones that they had on the lot were on hold.

I contacted Honda Powersports Customer Service yesterday. I told them that I was waiting to take delivery on a P1000-5D and that my dealer was waiting on Honda to give them further guidance or issue a technical bulletin. I also politely gave them crap for having no recalls listed on their website. They told me that they would assign a case manager to the issue and that I would be contacted by that person in 1 to 2 days. I have to say I was very impressed by how they handled it and their professionalism.

I just received a call from the dealer. Honda contacted them with updated information and authorized them to complete the sale. Woohoo! Also, all the accessories I ordered are in. I'll be installing accessories on Saturday and taking it for a ride on Sunday!

Just went to my dealer today to purchase one and they said that they can't sell any of them that they have. Anyone have an idea of when they will be able to start selling again or how long it will take to get this resolved? Dealer wasn't sure either just curious if anyone has any other info. Thanks

I'm hoping to purchase within the next couple weeks. I'm not going to finalize any paperwork yet until I can take it home. I don't wanna be paying for a machine that's gonna sit at the dealer.
