Just noticed these last night on rocky mountain atv while shopping for a spare tire. They still have the 8 ply available also. Had I know about these sooner I may have ordered them. Anyone see them yet or try them?

I have the 8 ply version, the sidewall is very stiff, I ran bighorn 2.0 before these. So with the 8 ply I sacrificed the ride on rocky trails, but they perform well. The 10 ply I would imagine would only be stiffer.

I really don't understand when yall talk about tires.

How I see it (I could be WAAAAAY wrong)

6ply light, softer ride, light trail use due to tires popping easy

8ply medium heavy, Med ride, Med trails, want pop as easy

10 ply heavy tire harder ride, Good for any trail, bullet proof want pop. Can run low tire pressure with less worry. (So to me if you can handle the heavy tire say IGR then this is the tire to have, you can use low tire pressure to make the ride soft. Thats what I did and got beadlocks to make it that much better)

Am I wrong on my thinking? I know this is just more of how I see it not what I know.

Would love some input maybe we need a thread just on this subject with a person writing it that really knows what they are talking about.

The more ply the better, bead locks are great but if you have a low ply tire it’s pointless.

Also each mfg “ply rating) references the driving surface of the tire. (Not standardized)

sidewalls can vary.

for instance a 6 ply kenda executioner has 4x the sidewall puncture resistance of a 6 ply ITP 589.

and the 6 ply kenda is 2x stronger than a 6 ply gorilla silverback.

Online research is helpful but personal experience destroying tires (or someone you ride with) is much more telling.

some guys might think they “ride hard” but the level of speed and rough terrain might equal an easy cruise for another.

Six ply bias tires are Six ply bead to bead. My eight ply Rip Saws have printed on the tire 4ply tread and 2 ply sidewalls.

Thats right. Radial manufactures have been misinforming customers. If you buy a ten ply Radial tire it is not 10ply bead to bead.

There is just not that many bias utv tires out there. I'm tired of sidewall cuts myself and think a bias tire may fix that.

I’ve looked at that one and the grim reaper. I’m all over the board though, I might go with Roctane X2’s.

My bias 4 ply tsl swampers have a much thicker side wall than my 8 ply tensor regulators.

ITP Mudlite II.
Maxxis Mudzilla original, super thick sidewall and rim guard. Mud designed tire but very trail friendly. I had them on my Rincon 4,500 miles on them and 3/4 thread remaining. Made three trips to Hatfield McCoy and many road miles on the Tug Hill Plateau.

I dont have many miles on my 28/10/14 Sedona Rockabilly. When riding at Hatfield McCoy i torn a huge sidewall hole on my RipSaws. I was forced to purchase a same size Rockabilly to get by. When comparing sidewalls between the two the Rockabilly seems much thicker than the same sized RipSaw, using the thumb sidewall press questimate test on tires unmounted. The Rockabiily is rated D as printed on the sidewall. The RipSaw is rated 4ply thread and 2 ply sidewall.

for me personally,10 ply tires would be the worst tires i could run for the terrain i rip in.my stock bighorns work great,no splits, chunks and are wearing well after almost 1k miles.if i were in swampy ground or running over rocky terrain they would be gone immediately.the right tires for the right application.i have 3 different sets in 2 different sizes and load ratings for my hd ram.1 set for winter,1 set for carrying the camper and 1 set for daily driving in spring, summer, fall.

I’m in the same boat you are I’m tired of ripping sidewalls out I’ve been looking at the dirt commander and the tusk terabyte, I think the terabytes will last longer but I just don’t know which way to go. Any opinions on those two
