Picked the pioneer up Friday night. Had the dealer install a hard roof for me. Here she is loaded and headed home.

Took a quick ride with the family down the road, but wanted to keep it clean until I installed the skid plate.

SuperATV 1/2” skid plate and flip up windshield have been waiting patiently in the garage. So Saturday I headed to a buddy’s shop. Used his lift to raise the front end and installed the skid plate. We did pre drill the self tappers with a 1/8” bit which made the actual installation much easier.

Then got the windshield on. Had to remove the top two clamps from the windshield and install those onto the cage first due to the roof brackets not allowing them to be shimmied into place. Other than that everything lined I’m up nicely. Having additional hands is definitely helpful.

So of course we had to take it for a quick spin. Loaded with 3 guys the machine impressed us all. Having been around wheelers and other side by sides for years, we all agreed that the pioneer was quiet. Here she is in her natural environment.

Loaded her up and headed back to the house. If you gotta unload it off the trailer, might as well take it for a quick spin out back.

took advantage of a long nap time today and install a few things.

seat belt override
Hillbilly brake - had to adjust my brake pedal all the way back in order for the hillbilly brake to work. Seems like the pedal is stiff. Nothing to do with the hillbilly brake though.
American flag front and rear Honda decals
Club store add a light - highly recommended. Took less than 20 minutes to install.

Still have a few things to put on.

5000 lb winch
Rough country 3” wide angle pods at the base of the windshield
Rear reverse/work lights with switch
Pbr switch panel
Fan override
Under dash storage
Tailgate seals for the back doors
ThrottleMaxx

in the near future I’m going to get the fabric mid panel and soft upper doors. Trying to get things installed before the cold really sets in so I can fix/reduce as many of the air leaks as I can. Which reminds me, shift lever plate still needs to be ordered.

later, a ram mount and tablet are in the plans as well as more lights and some sort of radio.

if you haven’t caught on by now, I jumped straight into the deep end with the add ons. I’ve been waiting to buy a side by side for a few years till the time was right and was able to save up. I figured if I’m gonna do it eventually anyways, might as well do it now.

One major item I left off the list above is the dual battery and isolated setup from the club store. Going to wire in a 3 way power switch for key on, off, and key off power.
You might want to stay away from the Stinger relay. Especially if you are in cold weather. I live in SC but my 2018 1000 has been through 2 of them already. It's never been abused and I know hasn't had water under the hood

I'm kinda surprised you decided to take your dad along for the first ride, guess you had to take it easy, huh?!

NH, one of my neighbors is from there. Has Lyme disease, be careful, he never realized he got bit.

Congrats on the Honda and your family.

I saw the freezing issues with people using the stinger and went with the one that is on post 6 is that thread, marine rated, so we shall see. Ice fishing is going to be a major use for the buggy, so hopefully it doesn’t become and issue.

Ya, he was whining at the door so I let him tag along haha

ticks can be bad around here. Dogs have to be treated at all times and tick checks are frequent after a walk in the woods.

there is some locally made tick treatments that seem to work well, but need constant reapplications.

One feature that was a pleasant surprise was the paddle shifters and sport mode on the base model. I had not realized that Honda had added those features for the 2021 models.

Got the buggy registered yesterday and picked up a new/smaller car seat for the boy. He's only 1 at the moment so currently searching for a helmet that will work. Luckily the kid has a big noggin on him, so hoping that will aid in the search.

Also swapped out the stock headlight bulbs for the Beamtech H13. That was money well spent. One thing I noticed was the orientation of the LED bulbs was different when installed. Passenger side was vertical while driver side was horizontal, but it didn't seem to change how the light displayed on the trees. Does this orientation matter?

Paddle shifters have always been on the base 5 seater. It was the base 3 seater without them and no power steering until I believe the 2020 models.

Good to know. Glad I didn't spring for the deluxe, that was the one reason I was thinking about it.

LED headlamps, larger tires/aluminum wheels and color side panels. Those are the primary/only differences, IIRC.
