Looking at the 700 pioneer glass windshield and would like to have one for my new 500. Doesn't seem to be a Honda part number for the 500, only the 700. Anyone know the reason ? Hopefully I have just overlooked something. :?

Thanks bigc for the link. I have been there quite a few times with no luck in finding the glass windshield for the 500. (The 700 part number is 0SU95-HL3-105). Part number for the 500? There is the aftermarket glass windshield if Honda does not make one for the 500.

Did you ever find a glass windscreen? I was thinking of fabricating an aluminum frame, attaching with those Honda ROPS clamps and gluing on laminated glass.

Copy that. I'll also source a windshield wiper and see how it will affix to the frame. That's the big trick. Mud won't hurt glass but will kill lexan.

The above is mine, my niece's shop cut the center out of a Honda windshield and put a piece of flat windshield glass over the hole. They glued it in with black windshield glue that is used on most new auto windshield installs now, nothing else. They ran bead of it around the opening and pressed the windshield glass to it. I've watched it closely, because I really didn't figure it would hold and was ready to put some kind of brackets or clamps to help hold it. I was wrong, the glue has held over a year, it's been to Colorado, up to 12,500ft at 10 degrees, Arkansas summer with temps pushing 100 and lots of bumps and rough trails in between. The glue has held and the windshield has not moved a bit. Really nice having a glass windshield.

@sam3006 , good info, your experience is helpful for future upgrade to save $$. Wonder if she could give a rough estimate of cost and type and thickness of glass used if it was for a walk in customer, ....just for comparison when I shop around locally amd to make sure I request the same stuff which has proven to hold up. Guessing it was laminated glass. Looking at the pics, do you think it could go wider and closer to the OEM brackets?

My niece never would tell me a price, but it shouldn't be hard to find out from an auto glass shop. The glass they put on mine was a flat piece of laminate windshield glass. The piece is 32"x25" and it's not quite 1/2 thick, but a little over 3/8s. The hole they cut out is 29"x 23". I think this is about as big as you can go and keep the cuts straight. There's really not much labor involved. Cutting the hole, cutting the glass and then laying a bead of windshield adhesive around the edge of the hole and placing the windshield. The only part of the process I'd not be comfortable doing would be cutting the laminate windshield glass, as there is a trick to cutting the plastic laminate between the 2 layers of glass. Also after gluing the glass in place they didn't want it to be moved for 24 hours.

There isn't an OEM option as you know by now, however a company Alumalite Armor makes glass windshields that also tip out and quickly remove with 2 pins, also up to full aluminum cabs.
