P700 2020 700-4 Dead Battery

My new 2020 left me in the woods today. "Battery went dead! What the heck? That's why I bought a new machine to avoid a long walk. This is my first Honda, do these things really have a weak charging system or not? In Michigan we are required to run our lights, no accessories just charging for two cell phones and a GPS tablet. Is that too much without upgrading for more power? Please tell me...need answers.

The charging system is actually bot up to par with how the other machines have changed over the yrs but back in 2014 they were actually above most others. You probably just had a dead cell. (A lemon Battery. I run mine like 12 hrs straight with all lights on rock lights and a 800 watt amp turned up with no issues

My 1000-5 battery was really low from the dealer. I put it on a tender and it took a day or two to get it right. Never had a problem since with over 1000 miles on it.

I've got just under 500 Miles on the 700 now and there have been two other occasions where the starter faltered but managed to get the engine running. I didn't think anything of it as after a brief pause the starter kicked in. I'm thinking it is a bad battery now. Back to the dealer I guess.

My new 700-4D arrived Saturday and I placed it on a trickle charger immediately. It was at 45% from the dealer so may be like "2Track" said and just needed some juice. Also noticing coolant l;evels are super low, etc...so ill be checking everything before running it.

90 % of all batteries are low on every thing you buy and need to be charged but most don't. and it reduces the life of the battery.

Dealership prep is lacking! All units unpacked should be fully charged upon uncrating.

On the trail it happened again. I had my gel cell jumper with me this time but it only registered a fault and wouldn't start the machine. Boy was I p***ed! Sat there again miles from trailer scratching my head. After kicking the tire and cussing for 30 mins in desperation I tried it again. It fired right up. Gotta be the starter with a bad spot on the windings. Going back to the dealer this week! This is not a happy Honda guy. Questioning the overall quality.

Have you tried jumping the starter selenoid when it happens? Just curious if its the starter or prior to the starter 30 mins the machine cooled down. So the selenoid and starter both cooled off.

My 2019 P700-4 did exactly the same thing as yours.
Bought it brand new in Houghton Lake and by the time we put 35 miles on it left me stuck 2 times.
Trickle charged but it happened 2 more times during hunting season, bought a new battery and never had an issue again.
Change the battery or have the dealer do it.

That I did not try but the machine is now in the hands of the dealers repair crew and I will post as soon as I have heard something. I suspect you are on the right track regarding the starter or the solenoid

Dealer has had it for over a week now. Said they can't get it to replicate the problem. I told them to fix it, put a new starter in, call Honda for help; because I got 13k sitting in their parking lot that I can't reliably use in the woods. I'm very unhappy with this issue. They just need to throw some parts at it.

There is no need to just throw parts at anything, fix the issue and just put a battery in it.

The dealer told me mine checked out ok as well, I replaced it myself and haven't had any issues.
I would suspect a ground or pinched battery cable somewhere.
Seems somewhat odd they haven't located it yet.

My Talon was delivered with fairly loose battery terminals. When I checked them again a few months later, they were loose-ish again.
