Are you running the Uni prefilter inside the airbox? Check out the link in my sig for HondaBob's snorkel idea. It puts the filter behind the passenger seat where you can actually see when it needs cleaning and if you have a spare, a 10 minute (max) change over. He puts his up under the roof where it's more protected than mine but I don't ride in much rain.

I won't normally cut a hole in a body panel (my first SxS btw) but Bob's idea is so good (IMO) and convenient that I went ahead and did it. Now done, I have zero regrets and can only see how it would help resale value (which is really irrelevant at that level). It's just too handy and there are the two o-rings in the stock airbox that have caused others problems. I won't open my airbox but every 2 or 3 thousand miles now that I know how clean the prefilter keeps the stock element. My Talon got stolen (from the dealer no less  ) and I already have the pieces to do another snorkel as soon as I get the new one home. Not trying to dun you into thinking my way, just sharing my thoughts. #beers

Hey thanks for the insight we tend to ride in all weather types just like u said rain can be factored in and just adding having filter out in those elements im a little un sure off have u had and issues in rain? Cause putting it in cab is out of the question.

1. One of my first rides was in several hours of drizzle, I was new and forgot the filter was 'sorta' exposed. I had no issues. I think it sits in a sweet spot under the roof, especially when moving.
2. You could run it horizontally to the center of the roof behind the ROPS (so not in the cab if you have a back window), there's a spot there between the two slots in the roof that will be dry. I think Bob set HUCK's up that way initially. If you're concerned about intake noise, keeping the stock air intake chamber damps the intake noise pretty well (again, copying Bob's idea). I find the gear noise painful in my Talon and wear ear plugs anyway.
3. There are filter socks designed to keep water out in wet conditions. Or a kid's plastic toy bucket.
4. Come to The Dark Side, we have cookies. :p

After or November 6-8 ride in WV, I plan to snorkel mine like Craig has listed under his "New Talon Owners" link. I live in Indiana, and we ride in the rain often in WV -KY-TN. So my plan is to use a K&N filter on top of the snorkel, and put a 8 quart ice bucket, like you use in a hotel, over the air filter and run bolts and washers through the top to hold it. The K&N has a rubber top, verses the UNI with a all foam design, so it would be easy to bolt to. I am running the UNI in the airbox now. Once I get the snorkel mod done with the ice bucket, I'll post pictures.

sspeederr - welcome to the club. Nice build!!

First, what a beauty you have put together!! Bravo. Would you be able to email ([email protected]) me an amended list of yours which will have links and or telephone contact information for the different items you have listed? Thanks in advance for whenever you can do this.

Adding further to the build I have been putting it off for some time not wanting to cut up a 100 dollar receiver mount but after a long wait and no company is providing one that will work with factory rear bumper I cut mine up and now with out regrets I have it ready for final clearancing and welding
