I currently have an 18ft trailer and was looking to upgrade. I have a 1000-5 and my son has a Can-Am Commander 1000xtp. A couple of friends also have another 1000-5 and a Can-Am Defender. I was looking for a trailer that I could haul two at a time. I think according to my measurements that they will fit on a 20ft trailer unless I'm missing something. Does anyone use a 20ft trailer? Any thoughts good or bad?

My P1K-5 is right at 10-0 long, don’t know about a commander, 20-0 trailer may work but would be tight , 24-0 will give you plenty of space for 2 buggy’s and possibly even some extra cargo, gas cans, coolers, extra tires ect. My 2 cents…
If your gonna upgrade might as well go a bit bigger just in case. I’d rather have extra space than not enough.
The #1 rule of trailers is…
No matter how big of a trailer you get, you’ll always wish you got the bigger one.

Yep, iffn you have room to park it, go big. Richard's pic shows @HBarlow was spot on with 2 + 2 + 2. 👍

Apologies to those tired of seeing it but here's my 10' Talon on a 14' trailer.

Add a bed extender and there isn't much room to spare. Extra length also gives you working room for tongue weight adjustments.

Why guess or estimate?

Measure your Honda and son's Can-Am, add at least 2' in front, between, and behind the 2nd unit. My guess is you need 24' - 26' at least.

I did measure, but without putting them on the trailer it's easy to overlook something.

Does your trailer have stake pockets? If so maybe make some extensions for the sides if you’re handy with a welder and load the Honda sideways on your 18’ trailer?

I see this done to utvs a lot in my area…

I believe that 8.5ft is the legal limit in Illinois. I would be overwidth in my state. 🙁

Tilt decks are nice till you need to load two pieces of equipment safely. Especially with the ones that have a front apron that needs to have a portion of the load over to keep the tail from falling.

I have a aluminum 18’ plus 2’ dove tail with ramps. I have to back on my pioneer when hauling it plus my dad’s Kawasucky Mule to keep the bumpers from rubbing in the middle.

I wish I had the 20’ plus 2’ dovetail version of my trailer at times.
