@JACKAL just curious how your nephew Chad's P1K did on the 2 day rides with the portals?
It did OK, but was mindful to not run over 30mph to keep them from overheating on long stretches, they did get very warm a few times.

Well after 6 model years its about time for an update. I'm sure the 22's are more refined in many areas, but still doesn't have better seating comfort and no comparison for back seats. At least I didn't switch to a China Virus Massimo from Tractor Supply :D

This move was to appease the wife so she can continue to enjoy trail riding, hopefully it is enough to do just that.
The 22s are have definitely gotten some love from the the Honda engineers.
Anyone gullible enough to buy a massimo, let alone from tractor supply desrves their fate.
BOYCOTT chyna......
Good luck keeping the Mrs. happy, I know the endeavor well.

Love it and the color is awsome! My brother has one and it's been tough. And I think the nicest interior on the market by a long shot. They are prone to bending tie rods just like the Pioneer. Someone posted on Facebook that a pioneer tie rod fits it. But that would be a good aftermarket upgrade off the bat so your not doing it on the trail. Can't wait to see it in a couple weeks!
The new tie rods are beffier. They are the same as Talon now.

Agreed 💯 % had 2 different Pioneer 1000 since Dec 2015 and 25 k miles on them & a P500 for 5 years as well.

It's just the sum of many little things that add up to a much nicer experience from an owner / rider perspective. The type and amount of insulation used on RMAX could easily be used on a P1K but they choose not to.

Honda has always provided reliable, decent performance to cost ratio. However people will pay for quality, give us what we want and we will pay the extra cost. Pioneer 1000 options are Like an F150 XL & XLT trim, but many would prefer the Lariat, Platinum or Limited levels even though it increases the cost of the same truck by $45k or 100% more than the basic version.
We are paying extra to own Honda quality, In the form of less creature comfort. Its how they keep it price competitive.
But that said, I Honda went with drive by wire that would be sensational.
Hell, they musta shot their wad on the engine/trans so much they only had a few dollars left to design the dump bed.. I have Yamaha atv and agree the build quality is very stout.
Happy Wife....Happy Trails....:):)

Looks like an interstate. I feel fortunate to have the amount of acreage I have to ride on. It's expensive, but you rarely see anyone when hunting season is not in session.

So I haven't posted about my ownership experience with my RMAX4 XT-R since last September. Trying not to be one of those KRX guys on the wrong forum.

Still, 3100 miles now. No issues, only basic maintenance oil changes, filters. Have not done the recommend CVT clutch inspection at 1600 miles, everything performing as it should.

I will do the CVT inspection/ service some time this fall probably at 5k miles. Simply cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of the parts. On this model CVT is between front seats and have to remove several panels to get to easily. Not hard, just procrastinating.

I still miss the quiet Honda power train vs. the RMAX CVT setup. I would gladly give up 30 hp to have the P1K DCT instead. That's my only complaint.

Last ride with club April 28/29th.

Popular complaint with the RMAX, the 850 X2 is a lot quieter.

Every SXS that adds a roof & windshield just makes for a great power train subwoofer from noise. Honda definitely held the noise down but conversely kept the heat in which works against comfort above 75 degrees. But I loved it in 30 degrees weather.

Lots of pros and cons between brands.

The Yamaha seems like better quality all around though.

Quality seems on par with Honda however it's the creature comfort, fit and finish, little things inside are a decade ahead of Pioneer & Talon. The seating & ride comfort with lack of felt cabin heat was the selling point for me. The shiny, convenient do dads are nice but not a huge deal.

I was thinking the frame and suspension components are beefier and better coated. Agree?

I drove a couple of Talons at RRB before I bought mine. They look really good but are not on par with the RMAX
