At the moment, I bring mostly recovery gear but that will soon change. Here's what I have as of right now-

2 d-ring shackles
1 snatch block
1 tree saver strap
1 20' tow strap
Full size spare tire
Leatherman (always in my pocket)
Cell phone
Spark plug
Honda tool kit

Here's what I need/should have-

Jack
Shovel
Zip ties
Duct tape
Lug wrench
small metric socket set
Crescent wrench
Wd-40 or equivalent

Also, check out this thread-

what gear do you bring on the trail

I thought that was a given.

I am also interested in this thread. The last 2 times I've had my Pioneer out, I've gotten hung up. The first time I was caught on some frozen ruts. All 4 wheels were just spinning. I was able to rock it side to side, while my buddy ran the gas pedal. The second time, I went over a "frozen" mud puddle. Broke through the ice and was stuck. Right side wheels were in the air, left side buried in mud, and digging deeper. Ice was a few inches thick. We tried jamming stuff under the tires, to no avail. Pulled many large pieces of ice out. Finally, was able to back up and get a little traction.

Is anyone using a come-a-long? If so, what size(weight). I really don't want to buy a winch, and Harbor Freight has them for around $20.

I suppose you could use a come-along. I would think bigger is better as far as that goes but jeez you sound like a PRIME candidate for a winch. Harbor freight sells those too!

Beer makes the perfect currency on the trail. If I have enough beer I can get help with any problem I might encounter or...
I can enjoy life until help arrives.

I happen to have an extra winch still in the box if anyone is interested. I bought it a while back for my 700-4 from a local shop that was closing.

It's a 3000 lb Bighorn Brand. Comes with everything needed to mount and a remote switch. It also has the farilead coming with it.
