Looking back at this, I do not recommend this anymore! Get the correct harness...

I purchased this sub harness off EBay to provide 4 keyed circuits for accessories.
Part number HONDA 08Z08-HL5–A00.
It’s a P500 harness but someone said (maybe you) it works on my 2018 P700-4.

Is this the location in the hood (pic below) where it plugs in.? If so, I assume there’s a way to open up this plug so it will insert???
I’m a rookie at electrics😩😩

Note: I did install the Rear LEDS from the HONDASXS STORE. That was so nice to truly plug and play!!!! My kind of accessories!!!😀😀 Richard had to even help me with that.THX to him. They are GREAT!!

now back to this harness......
will it work???

The sub harness plugs into the back of the 12V outlet. And then the plug that went into the outlet goes into the sub harness. You access from under the hood. 😉

Thx Mudwing:
I have the harness you’re talking about that I bought from the HondaSXS store. It does go inline from 12v plug. It give a single key controlled wire. (Guess I might could split this by wiring a small 4 position bus bar to run 4 relays for the accessories????)

The one I’m talking about (see pic and part number)is supposed to provide 4.

Here’s another pic of the 4 way harness and I hoped it plugged into the red plug you see behind it???
Thx for reply.

I think that red plug with the cap is a data link connection point. 🤨

OK .. it’s a data plug😫Thx again!!!

WILLIAM started this thread and said he installed the harness I’m talking about on a P700. (It’s a P500 harness)

I was hoping he may better describe how he did that. I can’t figure out his picture above that showed the connection.

Did you tap a wire??? Or is there another connector that I need to look for???

Good morning. Yes the plug I went into is a data plug, but works great for accessories. They could unplug it if needed and use it. Just pull the cap off the red plug in the picture and plug the harness in. There is a collar on the plug you may have to remove to make it snap together. I can’t remember that part. It has to snap together or you won’t get power.
Good call. I didn’t know you could tap into that. 😉

@William or anyone:

Back to trying to install that 4 lead harness to get switched power (x4) on my 2018 P700-4.

First of all, I can't even get the red plug unplugged on the ”data plug”. 😩😩Does it require something besides a screw driver?? I can't seem to be able to get it to release by moving the tab.

I'm holding both red plugs that need hooking up together. The data plug has 4 wires (cylinders). The 4 lead harness only has 2 pins. They would seem to line up with the Green and the red/white cylinders in the data plug.

One of these pics show a BLACK HARNESS (same type plug as the red one) next to the red data harness. It only has 2 wires in it. Could that be the one I need to hook up???? Or does anyone know what it's for???

I'm confused as usual.
Getting the data plug UNPLUGGED is 1st priority. I'm afraid to pull on it too hard because I don't see the locking tab moving far enough to release the 4 cylinders🙃🙃

If you are going to hook up a lot of accessories I wouldn’t use this. I only needed one hot wire. I didn’t even use a ground on the harness. Looking at your picture, I don’t think there is even a ground in that plug. My advice is to get an expert to look at it. I would hate for something to go wrong with this.

To get the plug apart. You just lift up this tab and pull.
Get a pare of needle nose and pull the 4 round cylinders and wiggle it out while lifting the tab. Dont pull the wires.

Years ago (mines a 2014) I bought one (inline plug) from Honda for my 700 and it had 3 or 4 leads and a ground, I have my winch on 1, front and rear lights on another. (3 keyed power wires to respective solenoids, main power from battery for all)

Seems like I have an extra wire, I better add something ;-)

I think the one I just ordered only has ground when you go in reverse.

I just installed this part number on my 2018 700-2 and it plugs right up under the hood to the red capped off plug, it event hooks back to the support that held the original red cap. with key on it has 4 12v at all 4 wires, not sure about in reverse. I used it to have key on power to my custom switch panel, worked great.
