Greetings - Alan joining in here.

I am evaluating P700 and P1000 models for a purchase soon. I am currently leaning toward the P1000. Hoping to hone my purchasing decision here before I pull the trigger and "buy once".

I am a fan of Honda and have owned many of their products.

I live in south Alabama and will be spending a lot of time in eastern TN as well.

Here is a little info about me to begin with!
Honda SxS ownership : No, but I am looking to buy
I have owned, or currently own the following: Motorcycle
My off-road experience level is: Basic
My favorite place to ride is: TN, FL, and AL

Welcome from Central Ala, I’d say if you’re going to be riding hilly rock terrain, the 1000 is going to be better.

Use will be 90% recreational - trail, neighborhood transportation, etc. I will tow a pair of kayaks on a trailer from time to time and use it for some minor work here at home. The list could expand once I get one and adapt it to our lifestyle.

The suspension travel and higher top end speed of the 1000 makes for a more comfortable experience, not because it’s faster but because it’s not revved up and loud. The 700 is no slouch I have had both, but it is louder and tougher on the trail. I use mine around the homestead and for trail use and the 1000 is more capable and comfortable for that mix. That is the main reason I moved to the 1000.

A few easy fixes for heat, most all of which the 18’s already or the 16-17 should have before to take delivery from a dealer, and you’re good for summer riding even down here. A windshield should be removable or be able to be opened. The heat will get you because there is NO airflow behind a fixed windshield, GREAT in the winter though.
