P700 Brake pad question

Why does one pad have this notch and the other doesn’t? My key is pointing to it in the pic...

Maybe they use the same pads for several models and the notch doesn't interfere.

Are both sets new? Is one left and the other right?

New. Rear set for p700. One rear set left from p500. Should be the same though... strange...

I changed pads at 600 miles. These are organic aftermarket pads. One has a squealer and the other doesn’t. These are from the front. Are you showing the rears?

Well it turns out the notch is where the squealer is mounted on the stock pads. So it is normal. These pads didn’t come with squealers. But the notch is fine. This is the stock pad.

And those pads were grooved terribly... the sand mud demolished them.
