Squeak started on rear brake pads. Do they have the wear piece that rubs like some auto pads? Saw a comment. 1600 miles and seldom use brakes with the engine braking, but muddy. Thanks for any new recommendations on replacements, time to search for how-to posts.

Pad change should be easy. We pulled them on @Bastardchild 700 trail side at takeover last year. You will need a tool to turn the caliper piston in though.
Edit: I think we turned the piston in with a flathead screwdriver, it was all we had trailside.

It may be worn out, but ridden as indicated, I would look in there and see if a rock, or other object may be lodged in creating a false positive. If you are going to change the rear brake, then I would strongly consider changing the front as well and keep whatever ones look good for possible backups in the event to snap/damage one.....

Yes I think it was 2 bolts and a screwdriver to turn the piston in, instead of compressing it in with a big c-clamp like on a normal caliper. :)

You can get brass brake pads for mud. Someone on here did a write up on them a while back, I cant remember who. Ive been meaning to get some and I never have. My buddy Jeremy with a P700 has them on his and he says he loves them and they last waaay longer than normal pads. I personally have never tried them though.

Just ordered full set of brass pads from above, use Pioneer10 code for 10% discount. Spoke to Brian, owner.

Funny you brought that up a few days ago...

Rotating my tires, i noticed (surprisingly) that my front pads are thin. I am notoriously easy on brakes (my 700 had just under 9000 miles, and they were, maybe, 1/2 worn out), so i suspect east coast mud and the previous owner had the most to do with it. I'll probably do the D2's from Amazon for $20.

Oh...and you can pick up the proper tool for the REAR caliper for cheap (HF probably has it) when you get tired of stabbing yourself in the hand with a screwdriver/needle nose.

Thanks, Amazon free shipping, $9 vs $500 ER hospital bill? Priceless!
