Anyone else have the threaded stud break off their tie rod end where it goes through the spindle?

I just had to leave my crate 8 miles out and go get parts. 🤨

It was actually just the tie rod end connection to the spindle that failed.

I don’t think the tie rod is much different than stock strength.
That's good to hear. But why not go with stock then if you weren't looking to get more strength from it?
No skin in this obviously, but I'm genuinely curious.
I just see too often "sacrificial" parts upgraded that end up costing major repair dollars.

The stock outer rod end is metric and to be able to use the Solid spindle stud you need to have a SAE rod end and aftermarket tie rod.
I kept the oem inner rod end.
(ordered spares since it is likely the new fuse)

this rod goes from metric on the inner to SAE outer.
I specifically bought this brand because it did not replace the inner rod end with a clevis.......

Does the CA tie rod have the same taper as the OE or do they require removing the steel insert from the spindle?
Removes the insert (fits way tighter than the oem spacer) and has a hardened steel stud.
m12 nut and cotter below, shouldered pin above with bottom high misalignment spacer built in.
12 point m8 hardened bolt to attach the rod end. (Jmx)

Thanks. Did you have to press the insert out?

Nope I just tapped it out with a brass drift.

Reason I was asking is that I had the same type of tie rods from a different manufacturer and I tried everything I can think of the get the inserts out and cannot get them to budge. Literally a 5 lb sledge would not move them on mine.

Hate to heat the spindle. No clue what's up with the inserts on mine. I'm going to go with the JSport SXS tie rods instead. They use the taper and maintain the factory inners. Figure I can carry a stock one for a spare just in case.

Buy some JMX rod ends and keep those for spares. (They are not all equal)

The big grown truck just landed with some JSports SXS goodies including the tie rods. I'm super impressed with everything about them. Phenomenal packaging and the parts are spot on. I'll do an install video on them and post it on my channel.
