Im sure someone is experienced with this, i want a sound system, a good one, but dislike the prices of them all and not a fan of soundbars. First question is do the cage mount speakers fit with a rear panel? If not second question is if i wanted to do a customish audio system what all do i need? Im pretty good a figuring things out once i know everything that is needed. Ive been browsing crutchfield they sell just bare speakers, the overhead boxes for them so i can mount above my head. Now where im lost, do i just need a receiver or do you need an amp as well? Also whats the difference between a receiver amd remote, they look identical to me.

Yes like that but not as big haha its a talon, so i need an amp and the receiver?
The kicker head unit is 50 watt 4 channel works well on 4 1/2 s and that is screen shot of amp I used small and powerful. I matched the rms of all speakers to get best sound

They keep postin bout em and I keep throwing it out there.. 😉 Eventually someone will bite.. If I didn’t already have a setup I would buy your sound bar.. That’s cheap with everything your throwing in with it compared to bone stock off the shelf.. I’m just the middle man tryin to make both parties happy.. LMAO. 😂😂

do i just need a receiver or do you need an amp as well? Also whats the difference between a receiver amd remote, they look identical to me.
so i am not a stereo expert, but here is my opinion since i just went through the same process:

i wanted a smaller stereo/head unit and did not like anything i saw. i don't really listen to radio stations, mostly just the music i have on my phone. So i went with a Bluetooth only unit without the internal amplifier that most receivers have. so i needed an amplifier (most receivers do not NEED and amp to function, but..). In my opinion you are better off with an amplifier anyway, especially if you are looking at the cheaper receivers. Without the internal amp, the receiver is also smaller.
For the speakers - i didnt want the wakeboard tower style mounts, so i found the mounts below and screwed them to the roof (i have an aluminum roof). I probably could have better quality speakers but the ones i chose are good enough for me.

the system is really clear louder than i need it to be. maybe could have went with 4" speakers instead. it still needs a sub, but its a good start.

here is the parts list - all are marine/weatherproof rated

JL Audio Bluetooth Receiver $99- not really a head unit, preamp outputs only - no internal amp or radio
https://amazon.com/gp/product/B00MH5CG2Q/?tag=sxsweb24-20

MB Quart Amp $85 - really nice and a good price IMO
https://amazon.com/gp/product/B06W53BFT5/?tag=sxsweb24-20

Kicker Speakers $149 - the black ones are not showing up anymore on amazon
https://amazon.com/gp/product/B015D8B8UO/?tag=sxsweb24-20

Speaker Mounts $25/pair
https://amazon.com/gp/product/B07YCR37JN/?tag=sxsweb24-20

a lot of this is showing up not available on amazon right now. not sure why.

I put the other two speakers up front. i dont have a picture of all 4 installed

I custom made all of my stereo 4-6.25 mid range speakers all powered by memphis Bluetooth rocker and memphis 500.4 marine amp extremely low current draw. Extremely loud but I am adding 2 kicker 6.75 subs with kicker 300.1 amp just to get some defined bass. So unfortunately the first box pictured will have to go i am in the work of new box now.

I ran a decent separated system
-4 6.5 infinity in separate pods above each rider
-10” MTX in wet sounds box ported into cabin (cut and reglassed box from our old 700 because they didn’t have 1000 stuff yet when we started in this setup years ago. Ditched the crap wetsounds speaker/amp)
-JL Audio head unit
-Two Rockford amps (They are very small and overly efficient, 300/2 for sub and 300/4 RMS for each of the infinity 6.5.
-huge capacitor for equaled power. Doesn’t dim or go flat on the big base hits.
This system is very clear no distortion up high. Everything has been under water several times and takes it well, except for 10” sub, need to find one that’ll handle abuse for more then a year.

I'm planning to do the same thing except with a larger center section to mount an 8" DVC sub. What did you use to mount the box to the cage?
