P1000 Escape Hatch

Anyone put an escape hatch on their Pioneer? I have a hard sided cabin and if i go through the ice, i want another way out. I have started looking at bus emergency hatches and marine hatches.

I drive on the ice with the door open and have soft uppers.

No seatbelt (defeated the nanny alarm) and ice picks on me with my floatation gear.

I'd keep one hand on the door handle and seat belt off.

plus,it give me access to hundreds of kilometers of winter trails that i don't have to trailer to get to.down the yard,across the lake and i'm gone.

Ice fishing is so fun! It is the reason I am picking up my new Pioneer on Tuesday hopefully? They keep delaying because the doors are on back order. Because of the cold, I went with a hard sided cab and heater which would lock me in potentially if I dropped through the ice.

Been thinking about your escape hatch, it would need to be large and be able to be quickly deployed, I think it's a great idea!

I am with you brother! This tread made me cold enough, I had to get a cup of coffee...
I would love to visit the frozen north, but could not live there. I like for my snow to be gone in 3 days and back to 50 degree weather, lol

It’s a Vexilar FL-8SE. It’s a basic fish flasher.

Oh shoot it can get several feet thick depending on how far north you are and time of year. In my picture it’s about 12” thick.

this is around -35 c and the ice is probably over 18".my auger drill bit bottomed out before i hit water.it will definitely separate the men from the boys being out on days like these.
