I had been looking for UHMW skids and previously bought them from Factory UTV out in Cali. They now make them for the P1000 Honda. Mention the forum discount and you will get the 10% off discount. Call and ask for Beth to order. I'm only plugging them because they are a bit cheaper than current options out there; they offer forum discounts and I was extremely pleased with their products on my RZR S. I currently have them on order and due to arrive in a week.

Will do. Best price I could find out there was 935 from SSS and over a grand on trail armor. The stuff I bought from factory utv for my rzr was excellent so I am expecting the same on this purchase. After having uhmw in the past I wont go back to aluminum. Slides way better and doesnt get razor blade sharp from the rocks.

Run their stuff on my RZR's for years, quality product and indestructible! They are the company that originally came out with UHMW skid plates for UTV's. Will have a set on my Honda for sure.

Any concern for 3/8" vs 1/2"?

Is this just for the 1000-3 or the 1000-5 too? Looks to be just for the 1000-3

I think it spans the whole line from an undercarriage perspective. I bought the 1/2" previously and it was overkill. I went with 3/8 this time. If Moab is your home base then maybe the 1/2 is good for you. 3/8 will be fine out east or in the south.

I take it you have never ridden at Windrock in TN, the rocks and trails there match anything in Utah or Colorado for rough rocky trails,, you are just 6000 to 10000 feet lower in elevation.

That being said I beat the crap out of FUTV skids in 2000 miles of UT & TN trails, fit & finish was top notch. Also FUTV uses about 1/2 the pieces so the parts are much bigger which costs more to ship and is harder to put on by yourself but there are fewer seams in the underbelly. My Trail Armor skids were 6 pieces for the P1K, these FUTV appear to be only 3 pieces with the same coverage.

I would have ran there's if I didn't already have trail armors installed. I like the smaller holes on the FUTV. I still think I would have gone with the 1/2 though the small weight savings would have been negligible for me vs the extra strength here where we ride.

To sum it up 799 included shipping so thats pretty hard to beat! And it was shipped from Cal to Ohio. I chose the 3/8 because of the weight and cost differential. Im of the opinion that if you need the 1/2 stuff you may want a different machine all together, like a rail buggy or rock crawler! To be honest Ive not been to Windrock but will be there this summer. Ive been pretty much everywhere else, Moab, Piute, Glamis and Tecate to Ensenada MX. I rode some Hell trails out West at Piute and Moab that I guarantee I will never go on again. They were metal mashers and I was the white knuckle express while riding them.
My days of that are done. Look forward to meeting all of you and experiencing a Jackal tour or two!

I ended up ordering the Trail Armor skids and a arm guards today because Ive seen them in person and know its a quality product and that 1/2" is indestructible! I was thinking about ordering them though.... but Trail Armor hooked it up real nice (that's all I can say) and they did say that they give a 10% forum discount as well. Nothing against the Factory ATV skids, but that 1/2" tho!!!

Yes they do, for like 900-something. But if I can get 1/2" for cheaper than 3/8, why wouldn't I?

My impression was 1/2" from factory is $939 shipped and includes A arm guards.
From Trail Armor the same kit is $1025 shipped.

Both offer 10% discount

Just trying to help you save $86

Just installed the FUTV 1/2" skid plates. A couple of the self-tapping screws started to strip when tightening even though I used a high quality tap. Anyone know what the metric thread is for the stock skid plate bolts? Thinking of ordering some rivet nuts to install in all the non-factory locations, and want everything to be the same instead of some being metric and some being SAE. Anyone know what thread/pitch the factory skid plate bolts are? I looked it up on a parts fiche, but it just says 6x12.

Thanks,

Waylan
