P500 Final Drive Pinion Tooth Count?

Been looking through various parts lists and confused about tooth count on rear pinion for the P520

The front Ring Gear shows 53T, pinion 13T

The rear shows Ring Gear 53T, but then every listing for P/N 41421-HL5-A00 Pinion Gear shows 21T

I found a photo that looks like 13 tooth, so that makes sense.

Seems odd that the 21T reference shows up in the parts book, and all references I could find, and yes a 21T pinion would be pretty large to say the least ! At first I thought there was some gear reduction to make up the difference, but now guess it is just a typo that gets blindly repeated, right?

I am working on another project and notices the 500 and520 have different gear ratios front and back. front diff 21x53. the rear has 13x53. Same tires diameter front and back. Always thought this was a bad idea unless spinning all the time. Anybody know why this is not a problem in the 500...

Funny thing is that comment is exactly opposite what I see in the parts list.

Common sense says that front and rear are equal since the drive appears to go straight through.

Yep, apparently they corrected the front and decided to make the rear incorrect just to balance it out LOL
