Had heard about price difference on the 1000 frame from 16 -18.
My buddy called our dealer and asked what the price and difference was.
All the tech could verify was the price
16 model- $700.00
17 model- $1300.00
18 model- $2300.00
( I'm pretty sure those are the figures my friend relayed.)
Anyone have any ideas on the price jump?

Out of morbid curiosity I did a little check, and what you posted appears to be correct. I compared prices for 2016, 2017, 2018 model SXS1000M5D2A. The screenshots speak for themselves. I don't know what all is changed but at a glance look nearly identical .

Here is a visual of the 2016 vs. 2018 Frame assembly from parts fiche. I don't see what drives the 341% price increase on retail prices.

Thanks for the details. Was curious myself. First thought, was upgraded frame but looks to be other reasons.

I have reached out to some one who may be able to give some insight as to physical changes which may or may not be reflective of the dramatic increase in pricing. I will share what I can once I hear back.

Well in a nutshell there isn't a reason from a structural standpoint on why the prices are different. That being said changes are subtle again not necessarily reflected by its cost year over year. I will speculate the price changes may have some correlation with price parity of competition, I may be way wrong on that guess too.

@JACKAL you should check the price on tie rods.
If the price structure is similar @JTW (and you, now that I think about it) should stock up on '16 model tie rods!

That was my dealers thought as well. Thanks for the in depth look.

No rhyme or reason tie rods same price 2016 to 2018. Guess they weren't outsourced like the 2018 frames.

When all the old stock 16 tie rods plastics and such parts are gone, I wonder if this is what we can expect for prices.

Well, this begs the question... what parts should be in the list of parts to stock up on?

With you supply and demand will take over and the cost of axles and tierods will out price anti-matter
