So I was looking on the Honda website at specifications and saw this for fuel capacity:

Fuel Capacity: 7.9 gallons, including 1.7-gallon reserve

Is there a petcock, like on a motorcycle, to switch the tank from ON-OFF-Reserve? If not how does this reserve work? Sorry if it's a dumb question, just never heard anyone talk about a fuel reserve on here.

Actually. It is dumb. Not your question but the stated fact of it having a "reserve".

Really. There is no "reserve".
What happens is the display starts flashing signifying you are now using reserve.

There is no valve like older atv's.
But there should be. Even if it was electronic.

Wow. That's all I got.

Nothing like that pucker factor when you run out of fuel and have to manually switch it to reserve. It's amazing how conservative your driving becomes as you gently and immediately ride towards the closest refueling point.

Some members said the gas gauge is not accurate. Zero the trip meter when you fill up. You should enable to get 100 MI. easy out of a tank, (unless you run real hard), run 80-100, note gauge mark. Then fill the tank, see how many gal it takes to fill. This way you can check gauge. And gas mileage to better estimate gas level by gauge. Hope that helps

It’s going to depend greatly on terrain and the weight of your foot.
