The supplied riv-nut is hard to install on the top of the plastic door and get it aligned vertically. This makes removal and replacement of the soft door a pain as its tricky to line up the fastener with the hole in the frame and the threaded riv-nut. If you have done this you know what I mean!

My solution was to insert a “stud” and use a washer and wing-nut to fasten the soft door.

So far so good .

The are a pain to get lined up. The first door I installed them in I didn't pay much attention and just marked the hole half hearted. When we went to install the bolt it was a big pain to get in. The next door I paid better attention when I installed the rivet nut and it lined up better. We finally took a drill bit to the hole in the frame and enlarged the hole in the upper frame. That helped with the install and we ended up doing the same to the other door. Alot of times in the fall and late spring I throw my doors on and leave these rear bolts out. Looks like your solution should work well.

On mine I found that the uppers fit better and seal up a bit better with a nut that is approximately 3/8” inch tall as a spacer between the frame and the door. It also makes the angle more tolerable for the bolt.

the other option is to make the top hole on the tube a little bit bigger.
