My 2017 1000-5 Deluxe isn't happy in cold weather. Its always started but i've been hearing more relay clicks than usual when turning over in freezing or below 40 degree temps. Once I ride it awhile it starts fine but after setting overnight it turns over slow with lots of relay clicks. The instrument cluster will go dark while cranking.

First owner kept it on a Battery Tender. The battery shows 12.9 volts, even after sitting for a week. Key on is 12.2 - 12.3 After starting voltage is 14.2 - 14.7

Looks like after 2 - 2.5 years I need a battery?

What do you all recommend? Do you keep yours on a battery tender when not in use?

Stock replacements? Yusa, Walmart, Amazon

Better?

Best?

Mine is stock, no winch (may add in the future) or aftermarket accessories besides a street legal kit.

I know many will not agree with me but I like Yusa.
They have good longevity, and a high price.
I would rather pay once and be done.

I have noticed on my fleet of ATVs that if the battery sits at the steelership for a long time the performance is just sub par.
A new battery that gets occational use will last well, even with Ohio winters.
On my p500 I did find the dealer added a battery tender wire to maintain the battery.
So far so good.

Will adding a second battery help with longevity if your don't use a ton of add ons?

2016 Stock battery (YUSA???). Never had a tender on it. I only run the machine 3 days per month consecutively so every month, it sits unstarted for 27-28 consecutive days. Stock battery just died last month after 3 plus years. (Better than I've been getting from my auto batteries which are used every day!!!). Can't complain about YUSA.

Yuasa, great batteries.
I've got several in service, some around 7 years old and still going strong.
Keep them on a tender.
A good percentage of other batteries are made by Yuasa under a different brand.
Made in the USA.

My stock battery is good after 2.5 yrs but my second battery is getting weak, I can't winch for more that about 20 sec. I am going to replace both batteries just for piece of mind in the next few weeks. The AZ heat takes a toll on them, I do have them both hooked up to a battery tender also.

I’m still on my 16’ as well and still going strong. It’s cold up here but mine stays in a heated barn. If I’m at the cabin and it’s well below freezing it will not start the buggy. But I’m still holdin on.

2016 1000-3 still working. Stock with winch. Battery tender is used sometimes, but mostly not. I'd buy another stock battery if needed

Which Yuasa battery would I need for my 18 deluxe.
I’m not sure off hand on the number? But if you take the clamp off your battery and the rubber sleeve, the part number is on there. You can also take that number and cross reference it to any other brand to fit the machine
