Recently finished installing the Ice Crusher Heater with MaxStat option on 2017 1000-5LE.
Ice Crusher Cab Heater for 18+ Honda Pioneer 1000 Deluxe LE
The heater installs directly under the 2nd battery tub and mounts to firewall directly in front of the 12V accessory plug. The entire front end plastic needs to be removed including inner fenders. Installation requires a minimum of 12 beers (I suggest 6 beers on 2 different days).
The heater provides 4 ducts on the dash (2 in center warning label area, 2 in cup holders (optional)) and 1 duct under the dash on each side just above the drivers and passengers feet. The fan has 3 speeds and a dash mounted temperature control valve. The components are significantly better than your average imported plastic. The heater pulls air from the passenger side of the cab.
I also ordered the MaxStat option which adds an inline thermostat. Basically, all of the flow from the engine is routed through the heater core until the inline thermostat opens and allows flow through the radiator.
Pros:
- high quality parts
- excellent technical support, generally you talk to the person that designed the kit
- needed templates and hole saws are provided in the kit
- I ordered directly from Coupers and it took almost a month to get the kit. I believe they were in the process of relocating.
- The heater intake duct fits tight to the air intake tube.
- The 5/8" brass hose fittings didn't thread into the machined aluminum as far as I think they should. Don't attempt thread the fittings into the aluminum without Teflon tape or lube!
- If you call or email it may take 24hrs to get a response
- Installation requires beer and the patience on 2 different days, you could push through in a single day if you have an exceptional amount of patience or if you already know how to remove the front clip. I was already 3 beers in before I got the front clip off.
It certainly seems to work well, however I haven't had a chance to field test.
