I recently ordered a set of ITP steel wheels and new tires. Seems like I read that these wheels need different lug nuts than the stock P500 ones. Do I need different ones?

Not sure on the steelies but I needed splined lug nuts for mine. Problem is you can't get a wrench on them because they're inset. No need to order either, they have them on the shelf at auto parts stores. Made by Dorman.

I used the factory lugs on the ITP Delta steel wheels on a P5, no issues. I think there is a very slight difference in the angle of the cone from OEM to aftermarket which is why they recommend new lugs.
