My local dealer is Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and I went in hoping to get some help with my winch cable which had frayed some on the free end at the hook. He started trying to sell me a new winch with a synthetic cable. I declined stating I am buying a Honda Pioneer and in he started. Saying our state bought hem and all the guys hate them. Said putting weight I the bed caused
Them to "float" in the front. Said all he has heard has been complaints. Shifting into neutral and guys rolling backwards down a hill. Then tried to sell me on the new Kawasaki. As I thanked him and walked away, he reminded me to do my research.

Funny how he was so full of himself to "convert" me away from Honda it was all I could not to laugh at him.

That's sad. I would shy away from those who have to bad mouth the competition.

Halls in Pelham, AL will bend over backwards to sell you a popo, but won't let you start or test drive a Pioneer.

Claim to be a level 5 HONDA powerhouse ... Lies damn lies!

Businesses don't stay in business if they don't sell stuff. that is what salesmen do. But there is a right way and a wrong way to sell your wares and the first thing is help the guy that walks in with a little problem and he will likely come back as a repeat customer. Salesmen are just trying to eat like the rest of us, some are a lot more hungry than others and act accordingly.

I think what we (customers) experience too often is:
The salesman is looking out for himself. He has a quota, or for some reason needs to sell X units to keep his job, or 3 more sells to get salesman of the month. He is not in this for the long haul. In all likelihood, he will not be there when you come in to make your next purchase.

Car/powersports sales sees a small percentage of repeat customers on a short term basis. The sales guys want the sale, the dealership wants the return sale to build their 5-10 year pipeline. Polaris machines make great turn over and repeat customer on a shorter basis and they have higher service rates, which is where profit margins are higher, on a more regular basis.

If I were a dealer in it for the money. Which let's assume they all are, I'd push polaris too, I'd have a more regular income from a polaris machine than a Honda.

STILL, you should sell a customer what THEY want, it's an easier sale and the customer will be happier, if you REALLY don't want your customer to chose a certain model or manufacturer WHY CARRY that model or manufacturer????
