Got a letter in the mail from Honda that said if your unit back fired it could catch the plastic muffler shield on fire. Any one had that done, looks like they put a metal shield on where the plastic one is and then reinstalls the plastic one back on that sticks out farther?

You installed it? Heart Land told me they knew of my mechanical abilities and couldn't trust me to do it right! Threw my Honda S x S sticker out with the baby wash, I had a back up!

Make sure the original heat shield is installed along with the new additional heat shield. The new plastic cover is larger and probably better able to take the heat. My buddy had a ignition coil wire come loose. He drove it on one cylinder for awhile. The plastic cover got hot enough to deform a bid but it didn't catch on fire. If we had a spark plug or ignition coil failure removing the plastic and disconnecting the injector will make a one cylinder drive out avoid the exhaust system heat problem. I think a few had the ignition coil connector come loose so its a good thing to check.
