  1. 1000-5
Hi, I have a 2018 pioneer 1000-5 and a 29 foot winnibago travel trailer. My tow vehicle is a silverado 2500 hd. I would like to bring the pionner with us when we vacation and I cant figure out how. Here are the options I have come up with :

1. I could I replace the tow vehicle for a van like a sprinter or similar and fit the pioneer in there?
2. Is there a way to load this into my existing truck and tow the 29 foot trailer ?

Thanks in advance.

Woops wrong forum meant for the pioneer folks, but any suggestions welcome!

I don't think you're going to fit a P1K-5 in a Sprinter van. Maybe I'm wrong though.

You could look into a diamond back or something like that to allow your truck a platform to load the SxS on.

Flatbed truck or a rack that sits over truckbed and cab.

Pretty sure you can not fit a 1000 into a van nor P/U. Towing 2 trailers is possible, depending on locations.

Pioneer will not fit into a truck bed iirc.

So either fladbed or platform.

Benefit of the flatbed is that the machine will be approximately 18" lower and the truck will handle it better.

Benefit of the platform is that you still have a regular pick up box. So no hassle from dot (depending on your laws)

Is your truck a short bed or long bed? Short bed may need some type of extension for the bed and trailer tongue or hitch.

As far as I know it's illegal in all states to tow a trailer behind a bumper tow trailer and you would need a 5th wheel for the front trailer. There is always debate on this subject though, and even here in the socialist state of CA, I met and talked to a guy who towed 2 bumper tow trailers often. Many states do require a class a license for 2 trailers, but not all.

I have an F350 with an 8' bed and have been trying to dream up a way to carry my 12' long talon 4 seat, I'll post pics if I ever build anything.

Agree with Kilo

Here is a P1K5LE on a 8 ft. 6 in. flatbed and it barely fits, if you have a long bed or long wheelbase they do offer 9ft & 10 ft flatbeds with 14K bumper hitch built in. The bed shown is a CM AL-SK bed 8.5 ft Long x 98" Wide X 58" Cab to Axle its pricey at around $6500MSRP but you can find plain steel flatbeds under $3K that will fit your P1K and tow your camper with a lower center of gravity than a HD platform that will support 2500 lbs, at around the same price.

Mine was just n the edge of being to short and I welded in an adapter to make it about 3 feet longer
Cool, I'm sure with some metal and a welder could definitely fab an extension on rear but then have to extend tongue so you don't crush a camper if towing one like OP is wanting to do.

Yes that beautiful place. I couldn't remember the name of that development I just remembered u turned at terry creek. We looked at land there 20 years ago. I bet there was only 5 houses in the whole place at that time. I liked that all the lots had plenty of acreage.

I don't know what Your laws are in your area for towing but I have seen several people tow small trailers behind campers if setup right and balanced well with a small aluminium tandem axle trailer, if You have a Duramax in Your Chevy You got plenty of power,,,,,,,👍

Towing a small trailer behind a fiver is okay, but second trailer should have sway bar on the hitch and preferably have working brakes.

Towing two bumper pulls is asking for trouble. Short runs to the lake might be okay but the second trailer will be a swaying sob.
Every side wind gust etc is magnified in the rear trailer in all directions, including vertically.
If you go with a flatbed on your truck you loose the box for the rest of the time you aren’t hauling the utv.

Honestly might want to consider a toy hauler. I bet the difference in money and time is less than you think.

I now have a toyhauler but this is what I used to do.

Hi all, thanks for the reply's we are deciding on a rack as I think it will be the most economical and we do love our travel trailer.

The rack we are interested is a marlon sxs xplorer ii here is the link. Xplore II SXS Riser . With this rack and our 2500 we should be ok, I am still crunching the numbers interms of weight but it seems to be ok since my gvwr is 9200 lbs ( minus truck wieght of 5000 lbs and change) gives a max payload of 3300lbs.

3031 - pioneer wieght ( 1709 lbs ) - rack ( 375 ) - tounge wieght of trailer ( 500 or so).

thoughts ?

I have similar issues. I have decided against a platform because I just don't want to drive with me SXS way up there. I nixed the toy hauler idea because we don't camp at trailheads most of the time so you would have to break camp to use your camper for a tow trailer. Ugh. I'll probably go with a flatbed truck myself. Chevy sells a truck in china that has a regular bed that converts to a flatbed. It has a whopping 1.5l 99 hp engine. Still if they ever used the concept over here with a larger truck there would be market.
