No electric start or even compression release I dont think. Love the old TT. Got rid of an xr600 because my knee didn't like starting it.

Correct about the no push button starting for the TT's. However it does have a compression release, which is used to release compression in order to rotate the engine to the correct position for starting, and has a "window" used to see a machined spot on the cam that indicates you are"safe" to attempt kick starting.

Just know that when you do kick it, you had best be serious about it. My neighbor had the first year TT, ('76), and failed to get the position correct, and spent the next several weeks in a cast when his foot/shin/ankle hit the back side of the handlebar).

But once you get to know the quirks, they are a FUN ride... Especially in the dunes.

Bought this TT new from Imperial County Yamaha (Imperial, CA) when I lived in Yuma, AZ. It is indeed a learning curve to start these without getting bit.

All that said, by comparison to more modern bikes, the suspension is ancient history, but it STILL puts a smile on my face...

Beautiful bike for sure. Seems the older I get the more I like the older bikes.

My high school buddy and I both have Monkey’s and love them. We have done Tail of the dragon, Bear Tooth Highway, Yellowstone, crossed the mighty Mac and a few others. They are a blast
