I know there's been a few threads on this in the past but thought I'd start a new one with fresh info. Hormell's Xtreme ATV has a true 550cc big bore kit available. I was told he has two left and not making more. 11:1 compression likes 93 octane but will work on 91 premium, with K&N & custom HMF exhaust gets +7 HP gain.
$950 BB Kit
$285 Hi torque camshaft
$380 (Can't quite remember exactly on this) for a Power Commander V through him with his dyno program.
Also,
$370 refundable cylinder core
$150 refundable cam core
So in the end your looking at a $2135 valued cost since your losing your jug & cam. Personally that's the line for me. I'm usually not afraid to put some money in for power if I like the machine, which I do, but I'd definitely want to keep my stock parts for backup. Too much for 7hp just my opinion. Also not too sure why there's the cylinder core if they aren't making more. But he was a very nice and knowledgeable guy fwiw. I'd gladly buy from him if it worked out.
He also said if there's anyone with a P1000 looking for power he has a program/map (I ass-u-me for PC V) that'll get you 6-7 more HP with no additional mods, just from proper tuning.
