Very experienced ATV rider but what engine oil are you using for your machines?
With my previous machines they had CVT so I used Rotella or Spectro.

Howdy from Oklahoma, and welcome to the club. I use Honda dino oil in the engine. Going to change to synthetic gear oil to try to reduce noise, based on comments from this forum.

Welcome! I use Rotella T6. I used it in my dirt bikes for years since the transmission shared oil with the crankcase. Normal motor oils have additives which can cause clutch slippage. You should be able to use any oil that meets the Honda engineering spec. JASO something or other...

Welcome from Central Florida. I took my dealerships service managers advice and stayed with Hondas oil but switched to synthetic. If there is a engine problem they can't say you didn't use the correct oil. In the diffs. I went with Lucas SAE W75-140 synthetic gear oil to reduce noise. Which ever brand of grease you use make sure it's Hypoid.

Honda engineers spend large sums of money developing and testing lube oils for their products that are compatible with Honda engines, DCT transmissions, and clutches under all conditions. Honda provides the product warranty and sands behind their reputation and products.

Why do so many members choose oils designed for use in diesel engines and other products that do not include clutches? Diesel engines are as different as night and day from out little small displacement gasoline engines.

I've trusted Honda enough to buy four new motorcycles, two new cars, and two new atvs from them over many years. I trust their advice about engine oils to use in their products also.

It seems simple to me. What am I missing?

Honda recommends Honda GN4 or equivalent. They give you the specs of the oil they recommend and you can pick anything you want that meets or exceeds it.

Welcome from Ga. Ensure any oil choice is for wet clutch machines. I switched to syntjetic Mobil 1 Racing 4T motorcycle 10W-40 after the first service. Also switched to synthetic for front and rear diffs.
