I am thinking of getting portals, I have to back down hills because no low gear on the 700. I put on 27" tires on the 700-4 deluxe Id like to keep 27" tires on 14" wheels will the 15% portals gear me lower than stock with the 27" tires? I do not mind giving up some speed since I put on the 27" tires it barley hit 40 mph anyways.

Are you adding portals just for the lower gearing? Or for the added width/height/gearing? Have you considered IGR (Internal gear reduction)

Mostly for the lower gear, but the height and width is a bonus. Do they have IGR options for a 2018 700-4 deluxe?

I honestly couldn't answer that for you, I own a P1K5. Im sure you could find an answer fairly quick if you read into some of the 700 forum posts. Use the search option up top.

Im not sure even little 4" portals will fit inside 14" wheels. You will probably need spacers like I did when I put 6" portals on my P5 with 16" wheels.

Yep, you'll be lower than stock with the 15%. I think it comes with 26" stock right? It'll be pretty powerful. They'll work fine in your 14" wheels as long as you don't have too deep of an offset. Can't really be over 5" of offset. You can probably also go up a tire size at some point.

Went riding this weekend with a guy that had portals, gear reduction and big tires. He ended up breaking a tie rod, the portal gears and the tire off the rim going through a hole that I went through stock on 28s. Had to winch him out lol. (Got to use the new Harbor Freight 5k lb rear winch, so that was fun. Pulled it out with ease)

Another Honda guy that I know broke a rear portal shaft completely and had to drag the rear end back with the tire in the bed.

Seems like portals just cause more problems than they're worth.
