For some unknown reason my radiator fan isn't working and the P5 keeps overheating. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Dose the fan work? Jump it to make sure the motor is ok.
Is everything plugged in ok? Not likely to suddenly unplug itself unless you had stuff disassembled.
The fan is controlled by a little black box located under the passenger seat, make sure the smoke didn't escape from the control module.

As I recall you are on the road.
When you go to test the fan hook up a temp jumper with a switch.
There are a few threads on here discussing this.
Also supporting member has access to a wiring diagram.
Use the jumper untill you are some place to get parts or can get help trouble shooting it.

One last thing, don't curse the Honda engineer that designed the fan, I'm sure he would try to help you if he could.

Where do I find it? I wish I were better with computers and mechanics...

Check the fuse first

I had a similar problem with my 1000-5. I wired a manual switch in parallel with the fan controller. Now I can turn it on manually if needed.

I switched the fuse with the spare and the fan still did not come on when I turned the key. I thought it normally comes on with ignition, or does it only engage when the engine is hot?

It only runs when the engine calls for it to run (when it is hot). Was the fuse you pulled out blown or was it ok?

Only runs on demand . Let it warm up . We had one that we replaced the fuse on and found out after we got home that the fuse we thought was bad was good , so I put it back in and it worked fine . I guess the fuse was not seated or ......./?
