Working now and yes it sounds like it’s clicking.

It sounds like the splines are binding up and releasing quickly.
I have also heard that when the actual CV joint fails.
Check it out and let us know.

Mine was making the same sound, it was the outer cv joint, the boot had torn and the grease was washed out from creek crossing and what not. You can do a cv joint repair kit which is the cheaper option or just replace the axle with a upgraded one like the Rhino from SuperATV.

Thanks for the replies. Was wanting to order parts before I took it apart. Wasn't going to replace the axle if I didn't have to. Never had one apart on the pioneer and has been 10 years since I did one on the Rincon.

Talk to SuperATV I think they give a little discount if you order through the store. I got mine through Amazon like a dummy when I could saved a little through here

Well it was definitely the outer cv joint. It broke Sunday while weed spraying the yard. Ordered the whole axle from RMATV. All Balls Racing brand. We'll see how it does. The axle just pulls out of the rear diff correct? Gonna work on it tomorrow

Probably won’t need it unless it’s caked up with mud and rust. If you’re just swapping axles should just yank out. Sidebar: There’s a way to replace just the outer boot if you were repairing for a spare. 😎🔪🤣

P700 - CV repair and boot replacement.

I thought I'd take a few pics while replacing the boot. This is the rear outer CV. I chose to remove the spindle and knuckle. It was easier than and less messy than pulling the axle through the knuckle. Here's a pic with out the knuckle. Boot had been removed.

Guess it was late when I replied last night. Don't know what I was thinking. But the boot tore in half when axle broke. Don't know if it was torn before. I don't think the axle is worth saving to repair.

Installing new bearing while I have it apart. Axle and bearing was an hour and a half job. Now gotta replace brake pads front and rear and 3 ball joints.
