Looking to add a rear bumper to my P1k5. Mostly for something to hang a farm jack from when trail riding lower than my home made aluminum bed extender (below tailgate).

Like the SATV version with the shackles.

Just how hard can you winch on them? I know it’s better to go lower to get some lift.. I’d hate to add something that is just cosmetic and have someone hook on it.

others out there that won’t set a guy back more than $300?

A lot of guys have mounted a farm jack to double as their rear bumper.

Your best winch point is to put a shackle on your receiver hitch.
For sure on the reciever hitch. Kinda SOP on that.
Quite often the receiver isn’t able to be used / reached. Sometimes I need to straight lift at a point outside the tailgate…can’t do that on the receiver.

I considered mounting the jack on the Rops…really not so wild about how it looks or how close to the exhaust it is.

I wasn't aware you were the op, thought I was addressing a new owner...so yeah, you already knew what I posted.

I look at most of these rear bumpers and think I'd be wary of hooking a winch to them, especially if I was really buried. I'd want some pretty heavy metal in that case, and most look like brush protection.

Yeah that’s my fear ….a bit better than the rear Rops, but not something you want to crank on.

I just posted this on another thread. Not really a bumper, but the jack does double duty.

Btw, if you have a family farm and home store in your area, you may be able to pick up a 48" farm jack on clearance for $45. They had several near me

What mounts are those? Ultimately this is what I might still do.

They are (click on link) High Lift Jack Mounts

I cut a short piece of 1.75 ID tubing and split it lengthwise to "reinforce" the roll bar tubing where it's clamped on, though I don't know that is necessary.

Should add, I have to remove the jack (but not the mounts) to dump the bed.

I suppose it could be done. The other considerations are departure angle, I thing the mount needs to be positioned so that the jack won't hit when your butt is dragging. That, and given how easy the jack is to remove (just two screw knobs), and how seldom I use the dump bed feature (I do use it sometimes), I think departure angle is most important.

I did play with mounting the jack inside to the upper roll cage, and that was my original intent, but pushing 80 years old, that would be awkward for me to access. The "bumper" idea has worked well.

At the end of the day I decided to go naked.

Nothing out there is heavy enough to crank on. I decided not to carry a jack either. With a winch, and a shovel it just more dead weight imo.
