Hi,

This is my first post here everyone.
I am Josh and I live in rural, NSW, Australia in a small town called Gundagai.

I have a Honda 700FM2 2015 model that I only really use for sheep and cattle mustering and hunting on the weekends and am wondering if these machines are restricted from factory at all?

The machine will reach 44mph and then hit a rev limiter, I assume this is for the protection of the machine.

Can anyone shed a little light on this please?

Also if anyone knows how I can change the speedo from MPH to KPH that would be awesome?

Thanks in advance.

Josh

welcome to the forum Josh....while you are out there....Or down under so to speak:D
the speed is controlled by the computer....44mph is it...To my knowledge no one has beat the computer or got any more speed out of it...
to change miles to KM press the mode button for 5 seconds......

Thanks for your fast reply, swsebek!
I will switch it from MPH to KPH when I get home from work tonight.
I figured it was an ECU thing, I am happy with the speed however I just thought I would check to make sure it was running ok.
Cheers, Josh

I believe that the turbo guy confirmed that this was the rev limiter and not a built in speed limiter, which surprised me since it doesn't sound like its revving that high. Guess a big single doesn't rev nearly as high as the smaller ones i was used to in the past.

Welcome !
I just put a 3d tip and uni filter on .
Still 44 mph just as i thought .
It does get there a bit faster, doesn't go 41 42 43 seems to get to 44 much faster .
Not a race machine but worth the $70 i think . Not really any louder , at least driving it anyway .

Welcome to the fourm.
After you switch to kph it will look faster reading 70, even if it is the same slow speed.

We would love to see some pictures even if it is just the back paddock to you.
My family lived in Alice for 5 years when I was a kid, back in the late 70s.
I would love to make it back for a visit or a year long walkabout, just need to figure out how to win the lottery.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the welcome, what would you like to see some pictures of bud?
I am from Gundagai, half way between Melbourne and Sydney.
I would love to visit the Alice one day, it's on my bucket list for sure.
Wouldn't we all love a year long walkabout!!

With 28.5s on my 700 Speedo says 44 but it was 47 on GPS. Wasn't spyfid running 53 or 58 mph with his turbo 700? And it being an actual rev limiter rather than a speedlimiter as dgrider mentioned.

@AussieJosh I'd like to see how you use your Pioneer and what modifications you have done / plan to do.
When I lived in Australia my Dad had a series 2 109 Land Rover.
When we went out camping I doubt it weighed 5,000 lb loaded (especially if we where headed south of Alice where there where sand hills).
The wife and I just went to the Pioneer Takeover event and the truck and trailer where probably pushing 12,000 lb.
The point being - the way we do things here is probably very different to how you might do things.
I'm always interested to learn something new.

Has anyone ever put a overdrive unit on the rear driveshaft? Of course it could only be used in 2wd, but should get some more speed at a lower RPM?
