Another update. Took the talon on the first big ride trip since I got it, put 300 miles on it bashing whoops and jumping it in Silver Lake Michigan.
I did have both of the rear inner cv boots leak a s*** load of grease, and the driver side boot came off twice. The second time I replaced the inner clamps with big hose clamps that I torqued as much as I could before the stripped and that seemed to hold for another 120 miles...I did smell grease in time to get out of the sand before the cv was dry and full of sand. I repacked them with the only high temp high pressure grease I could find and kept sending it.
I have a hard time believing that the clamps that Honda uses suck. Our 2019 has never had a problem with its boots. Maybe when I bought this 2022 I got a Friday machine. I have had to retap about 25 bolt holes and replace 15 stripped bolts from the factory. When the boot came off the second time I was close to putting it on a trailer and dropping it back at the dealer I bought it from....
Tasks complete
Shock therapy springs. 2022 has the same shock bodies as the 2021 so their springs fit, although their preload numbers weren't very close for me. I think a good improvement from factory def less buck and more control in the shocks. Next up valving changes. I am attaching my chicken scratch chart I made that shows the factory valving. I think I might need hydraulic bump stops in the back to keep up with our pre-runner
I also built a quick and dirty tow bar for it and flat towed it like 3 miles back and forth from the campground with no issues. It actually worked really well.
