P500 Shift problems

Had anyone had a problem with the p5 not shifting up or down? My buddy has had this happen a couple of times and we can't figure out why sometimes if u turn key on and off it will work other times no. He thinks it gave a code 24?? Anyone have this problem?

Never had a code
think it was a - symbol
paddles didn't work
I rocked it back & forth
then it worked....
that was when I first
got it.....
I do know...it shifts better
when warmed up

I did have this problem but it only happened once. The service tool came on. I just restarted the bike after a couple of minutes trying to get it to work and it never happened again.
