Since 1989 and the end of the TRX250R, all hondas have been underpowered compared to other manufacturers. It's like they are scared to make a powerful engine since the 80s mess. However, like Smitty said, handling and driver skill is more valuable than big HP!

When I bought my brand new 1996 TRX300EX, a bunch of us locals would meet at our local sand pit every Sunday to ride. The main event was always sand drags up the hills. We all had the same bikes but I could beat everyone up the hill by at least a bike length. Others would always ask what I did to my bike. I said it's stock. But the difference was I could feel the power drop off and pull the next gear at the right time. The others had no feel. Shifting is FUN! It makes you part of the action. I love driving a manual transmission vehicle but nowadays you can't give those away so I don't buy them!!

Key to the new motor is to make the suspension hook up or it's for not. My humble opinion, been there done that with dirt bikes.

I agree 100%. My plan was to get the chassis dialed in this season with the stock motor, build a new engine over the winter and then test...test...test and adjust everything before I hit the track next season.

Slowpoke has some good news...... I was in contact with someone on Monday that wants me to try out a secret squirrel trans tune at the next race. From what I understand about it the difference between what im currently running and what im getting to try out is going to be night and day!

I also have a practice day set up with a Pro class factory driver (not Honda) who noticed my finishing results at the track and thinks he can show me a few tricks to improve my lap times and consistency. I can't even tell you how excited I am about this!!!!

Repeat of the heat race except I got to see the back of the RS-1 for more laps. I have nothing for his new bigger motor and am consistently 2 seconds a lap slower after being 1.5 seconds faster in previous races. I overdrive the s*** out of my car and couldn't even get within 2 car lengths of him. After 4 laps of almost crashing and putting a huge gap on 3rd I gave up and slowed down. 2nd is 2nd no matter how many seconds behind the leader I am.

If there was a weight rule the single seater wouldn't end up being that great of a factor.

My thoughts on what amature class SxS rules should be:

-Minimum weight rule (without driver)
-Pump gas only
-External engine mods & tunes allowed
-Internal engine modifications not allowed
-Full aftermarket roll cage WITH door bars
-No opening doors allowed
-No long travel suspension kits
-Stock chassis and suspension mounting points only

Plus all the regular safety stuff we already have to run.

That black PPEI car in the last picture is one of the badest Talons on the planet. It's so light it makes RS-1's jealous. I drool on it every time I'm at the track. It gives me lots of ideas for next year.

Raced today!

Heat race this morning didn't go so well. Some retard decided to drive up the passenger side of my car 1/2 a lap into the race and popped my RR tire. Car was completely out of control from that point on but I decided not to stop. Managed to keep it out of the wall and raced my way back up to 4th. Meh.....

Lined up for the main race after swapping rear tires and making a sway bar adjustment. Green drops, I get the holeshot, lead every lap and won the race by a decent amount over my nemesis in the RS-1. Not only that, I ran the fastest lap of the day in my class beating the RS-1's best lap by over 2 seconds. 😎😁😎😁😎

I don't have any good pictures or videos yet but I'll post them up when I find some.
