So.. there was a significant difference in early model 17 seats vs the 16’s.. but at some point something changed and they firmed back up somewhat. I don’t know if it was the foam supplier used or what happened but I’ve sat in some that were noticeably coushier and then later models that didn’t feel much different than my 16. I even went as far as to order one last year from partzilla and it was about the same as mine.

Prior to adding the merino wool as a seat cover my 2018 seat would sometimes make might left leg fall asleep while riding. Now with the new seat cover it solved that problem.

Partzilla says the seat I purchased fits 2017, 2018, and 2019 models. I don't know if there is a different seat that is available, but I can't tell any difference in this one and the original seat in my 2016.

That sucks man, I was wanting to take mine in to an upholstery shop and have a new bigger pad put in with a softer cover. Maybe have it almost like memory foam..

Maybe it needs some miles with your @ss in the seat to break in.

My 06/2017 build date has a fine popcorn ceiling texture on it. Were the 2016 seats completely smooth?

I don't think it will change much using it they shipped you a old stock 16 seat out of inventory.
Back in the day when this was first discovered I checked it out at the dealership and you could tell a difference just by pressing your thumb into it.

I ordered it from Amazon. It is a double skin that is stitched together in the middle. I had to trim a bit off each end. I then just slide it under the 2 straps on the seat. That keeps it from sliding around and can be removed for cleaning.

My 2016 seat was stiff and I replaced it. The new one was better. My 2018 machine has water in the seat and it's a total brick for plowing snow

I did as well... and had the same results. Apparently they have changed something from the original 2017 updated machines. The seats in them were noticeably softer.
