P1000 Spare tire size

I have the deluxe with the 14” rims. I bought a complete set of the 12” steel rims and I am planning on using one for a spare tire. I’ll be replacing all of my stock tires with terrabites at a 28” tire on the stock rims. What size tire do I purchase for the 12” steel rim for it to be a functional spare.

28x(Desired Width)x12

outside diameter shouldnt change.

note that measured diameters, even on the same tire, may change between the 12 and 14 inch rim model, but this should be negligible for the most part. it should work as a spare.

i found the 29x11 and 29x9 tires i run, same brand, same tire, same wheel size, report different measured diameters. inflation can change it too. as long as you are within a half inch or so id say you are fine

If you want to stick to same tread pattern, you'll have to go with the 27" TB since they don't make a 28 in a 12" wheel size. It would absolutely work as a functional spare. You could probably find some non-deluxe takeoffs pretty cheap on FB marketplace, but they are 26" tires(which would still be fine as a spare). You're pretty limited on the tires available in 28" that are also available in a 12" wheel.
