P700 Spark plug removal

For the life of me I can't get the boot off the plug I feel like I will break it if I try much harder any tricks or was anyone else's the same way

1. Make sure you do this on a cold engine so the wire won't separate from the plug.

2. Try twisting the boot a little bit to free it from the plug.

3. If you have something to get under the boot to push up on it, that would be great.

That's all I can think of right now.

I had to remove the plastic under the seat and tug on it with pliers. I put in a new iridium plug and it starts super fast now, old plug looked fine though with 1100 miles

yea I had a real problem getting my plug boot off. miserable, If you get it off without ruining it put some diaelectric grease in it for next time you have to pull it. It will make things much easier.

Its not really like honda leaves much room around them so you can get your fat fingers in there either. Mine came off hard even after a little twisting action.

Not sure on the 700 anymore. Im in a 1000 now. And my 700 only had 1 plug

Kind of a pain in the arse, the one on the drivers side isn't that bad as you can see it at least, but the one on the back of the head really stinks. Its been a while since Ive done mine, but I remember cussing and swearing as I changed them.

do you have the spark plug # you used?

I think i may have RFM. (read freakin manual), and used what the owners manual said or what ever the parts guy looked up on the computer. I don't usually veer to far from what honda recommends with anything service related.

Welp. I broke the plug wire boot.

What exactly do I need to replace?

It appears to be connected to the coil but when I look up the coil, it doesn’t come with the plug boot….

I ordered the correct Honda part number ($40) but it’s gonna take 10 days. Advance auto has a universal NGK resister boot for $3. It fired right up!

it’s obviously much easier to remove.

What’s the advantage of the Honda boot?

I cancelled the $40 honda spark plug cap and am keeping the NGK one. It is a no-brainer.
