P1000 Sub Trans Guinea Pig

Hey guys, I just changed my sub-trans oil and for the refill, I followed Lucas oil's recommendation for rattling gearboxes and went 50% oil/50% Lucas oil stabilizer. It didn't completely eliminate the 5th and 6th gear rattles but it is definitely a lot quieter. My sub-trans was already leaking oil and rattling pretty badly so I figure I got nothin' to lose. I'd never do this in the engine because of all the complexity and specificities that the clutches require, but the sub-trans is just old school gearbox technology. Next go-around I may try 75W-140 gear oil in it, unless someone out there thinks this would lead to failure. I'll post if she blows!

i also have done lucas oil stab. i will watch this thread to see how your machine turns out. i hate the whine.

I did approximately 30% Lucas oil stabilizer in mine back in early 2016 and there have been no issues so far. My guess is that it will be just fine at 50%.

I only put about 4oz in mine and could.tell a difference.
