I have a 2017 700-4. It is -33 with the wind chill here and the ol gir won’t start. Started last night and I plowed with it. But tonight when I put the key in the dash won’t even light up like normal. It cranks but won’t fire. It sits outside under a cover so could this be normal? Currently sitting in my 1 car garage with a heater pointed at it. But that’s the wife’s spot so can’t stay in there lol!!

There's been a few with the 1000 having the same problem. My 700 was a bear to start when it was below zero. Like you, I used it for plowing and I always ran a battery tender to get it recharged but fought it when the temps dipped down. I finally upgraded the battery and that cured my starting problems. On the 1000 thread most are relating it to weak battery or gas quality issues. Maybe something in here might help.

It cranks like normal, could it still be a battery prob? Sorry not real good with this stuff!! The dash not lighting up like normal is what really has me wondering

Try pulling relays and switching them. Or even take them inside to get warm.

Check the 10a fuse under the hood marked "FI". I blew mine when doing some wiring and had the same symptoms...no fuel pump, no dash lights, but it would crank...just not start

So, supposedly wind chill only has effect on exposed skin. My temp this morning was 4°, and mine started right away.
BS, pipes always freze more when the wind is up!

Probably not that battery, but you can charge it while you check for other things.

So the dash lights up now but my dumb a$$ left the key forward so the battery is dead now. More updates in the morning. And yes the wife’s car is still outside

Do you have a light bar or other electrical accessories?

I have a hard time believing that leaving the key on is going to kill the battery unless you have a parasitic drain somewhere.

Only accessory is a winch, but I had tried to crank it several times so the battery could have been drained quite a bit

Just a thought, (in some models of winches) if the winch is a wireless fob style, the receiver/relay box MAY (depending on install) always be powered up. That drain all the time may contribute to a battery issues.

That’s because it’s harder to retain heat under a house. Inanimate objects do not feel windchill. A thermometer will only tell you ambient temps
