Does anyone have any experience with patching a sidewall then running an innertube? The patch would be over a two inch slit so I would definitely not feel comfortable without an innertube.

I have done it with mixed results, the sidewall flexes a lot so it’s hard to get a patch to stay. I have done it wit a small cut in the sidewall but never 2” cut. And when it comes to running a tube in these low pressure tires I have found the tire turns a little on the rim and eventually it rips the valve stem off the tube.
Guess it depends on how big of a hole. Really best to get new tire on sidewall but I’ve heard of many throwing a tube in. Personally I’ve repaired some pretty large holes with just tire plugs and rubber cement. Usually just a trail fix that continues on. But I hate buying tires so I tend to get everything possible. Have better luck on inside as it makes less contact with rocks or trail edge.
These have been in there a long
