Just purchased a pioneer 1000-5... looking to upgrade the wheels and tires. I have been searching for a good all around tire. I will be hitting the trails, some road riding maybe some lite mudding. I live in MI and plan to use it year round so the tire will need to be decent in the snow as well. I have been looking at the following and looking for suggestions and or alternatives. Not looking to lift as I’m trying to keep it a bit more stable.

Rock a Billy’s
Terrabites
Moto claws
Rocktanes

Looking for a 28x10x14

Also look at STI Black Diamond tires, Good all around, reports of being very good in snow.

Good choices.. I went with terrabites but the others are fine too. 28x10x14 on all 4

Do you have a lift and or wheel spacers? Did you put them on the stock wheels? You have any pics of your ride with the terrabites on it?

High lifter lift and no wheel spacers... yes, on stock deluxe wheels. With Fox shocks around it.

Love the shocks and tires

You should get at least 25,000 out of a set of Grabbers , I've had them on 3 different machines ,my last one had over 8,500 miles on them and still over 80% tread

At 4,500 miles since the beginning of August, I’m just starting on my second set. They were about half worn out, tread wise, and seemed to become more vulnerable to sharp rocks and cacti, making holes that couldn’t be repaired.

Discount tire replaced them under warranty ($50/tire) so all is good.

So I suppose it’s just how and where they get driven - mine were a combination of high speed pavement and rocky mountain trails with some low desert (cactus needles) thrown in.

On a previous machine, at lower speeds (sub 30 mph) I still had about half the tread left after 5,000 miles. I was starting to think about new tires, but sold the machine - a 700-4.

On stock wheels with 28x10 tires the front tire track width will be about 3/4-1" wider than the rears.

The front should be 1” wider.. wheels are the same so the tires in the front are one inch wider and tires in the back are one inch narrower.. that means 1/2” on either side of the wheel so between the front and back 1” overall wider in the front than the back.

Did you use wheel spacers in the rear and if so what size ? Or is it even noticeable without spacers ?

I have not... yet.

I have noticed with a heavy load it’s a bit more tippy. But that’s with the HL lift on also.

Since you’re putting these tires on the stock wheels, you won’t notice much difference at all.

The guys that use aftermarket wheels that are the same size all the way around will notice that the rear track width is about 2 inches more narrow.

So if you use aftermarket wheels would you want 1" spacers on the back to even out or not a big deal?
